The Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization is Portland's oldest and largest neighborhood organization, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in December, 1978. The MHNO has become an influential voice on behalf of one of Portland's most historic and diverse communities, committed to improving the quality of life for residents of Munjoy Hill and Portland's East End through strengthening community dialogue and consensus on issues impacting the East End and all of Portland. In recent years, the MHNO has developed a strong social outreach and support component through its programs to assist seniors to aging-in-place, rapid-response to immediate food and heating needs among the community's most vulnerable, clothing drives and programs to assist Portland school children during the winter months and free community social gatherings and outdoor events.
