Long Range Planning Projects

RECODE
ReCode Portland is the first comprehensive effort to rewrite the city's land use code in over 50 years.  ReCode will create a new land use code to serve Portland for the 21st century. The new code will be more user-friendly, will advance the goals of Portland's Plan 2030, and will help the city meet evolving needs in such areas as housing, design preservation, conservation, the working waterfront, and transportation.

ReCode has been designed as a multi-phase process.  The first phase includes new regulations for signs, updates to accessory dwelling unit and parking provisions, and an organizational restructuring of the code. The formal review of the first phase has begun.  To find out more, visit the ReCode Portland website.
